Nuclear medicine technologists prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostics and tracer studies. They gather information on patients’ illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedure for therapy and also administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under the direction of a physician.
